Saverio creates intricate dreamlike and surrealist works of art, drawing inspiration from multiple sources including the Renaissance, fashion design and the great digital artists. Saverio is constantly exploring new ideas and techniques made possible by technological innovation. We spoke about the future of creativity, the metaverse and how augmented reality could revolutionise the way we interact with the world around us.

In three words can you describe your work?

My works are based on balance, thoughts and dreamlike.

Who are your biggest inspirations?

As a 3D artist, my sources of inspiration can come from many places. Firstly, I have to admit that great digital artists are undoubtedly one of my biggest sources of inspiration. With the advent of NFTs, the art community has grown exponentially, and discovering new artists and getting to know their work has become one of my daily goals. Often, the inspiration for a new work comes when I feel a strong feeling, an emotion or a moment that strikes me, and I try to transform it into an image. These may be related to my own experiences or may be an interpretation of what I see. I also like to draw inspiration from the great artists of the past. Renaissance art in particular is a great source of inspiration for me, with its drama of light, landscapes, attention to detail in clothes and materials. Also, I've always had a great interest in fashion and design. The ability to create custom clothes digitally has been a real game changer for me. But what most characterises my works is a dreamlike, fantasy or surreal vision. Female characters are the fil rouge that is often repeated in my works, becoming a distinctive element of my artistic style.

Altered Future

How do you make digital fashion beautiful?

Since I was young, together with my friends, we enjoyed drawing graphics and designs for t-shirts and sweatshirts, which we then printed and wore with pride. We carefully observed the fabric, studied the print and took care of every detail to create the best sweatshirt possible. When I discovered that I could do the same job digitally, I immediately knew it would become a true passion for me. I like to create particular outfits and garments, which can recall elements that we see every day but which, for some reason, appear strange or so particular as to be exaggerated. My goal is to create scenarios that lie between the real and the surreal, and this also applies to fashion design. My approach to fashion is very similar to the one I use for my art: I enjoy exploring the imagination, creating fantastical objects that challenge real-world conventions and make the individual who wears them unique and distinctive.

How does the digital enhance your creativity?

While I sometimes wish I'd lived through different years, the truth is I was born and raised with digital technology. Therefore, every day I see a continuous evolution of these technologies, each of which solves a different problem. Without a doubt, the digital world has opened up endless possibilities that have enhanced my creativity. Thanks to today's computers and software, I can manage lights and shadows very easily, without having to be confined to a photo studio. I can also create landscapes that don't exist in reality, and imagine fantastic worlds that were once unimaginable. Creativity has expanded thanks to technology and its wide range of possibilities, and this allows us to do everything in timescales that we once would have considered unthinkable. In the end, it's these new opportunities and flexibility that allow me to always explore new ideas.

Problèmes

What interests you most about the metaverse?

The concept of the metaverse has always been a fascinating topic for me. There was a lot of hype around it a while ago, but it seems to have levelled off since then. Personally, I still see it as a work in progress, especially since it's still very tied to the world of video games, which is the best application I find there. What interests me most in relation to the metaverse is augmented reality. I'm more interested in enhancing reality with technology than creating an alternative. Augmented reality can be used in a very interesting and creative way in different fields, such as art, architecture, fashion, medicine. I think augmented reality could be a huge step forward for humanity, as it allows us to expand our perception of reality and explore new possibilities and ways of interacting with the world around us.
