Tony Murray

Interview
3D + Digital Fashion

Tony is a fantastically talented Digital Fashion Designer and 3D Artist. He recently worked alongside Nick Knight and thirty other digital designers on Showstudio's ikon-1, the boundary-breaking NFT collection. Tony makes digital fashion beautiful, the fluidity in the movement and patterns that he creates are mesmeric. We spoke to him about his inspirations, the digital and the metaverse.

Who are your creative inspirations?

Fashion photographers like Nick Knight, Leslie Zhang. Also, photographers blending photography with 3D modeling and CGI like Momo Chen and Justin Ridler.

How do you make digital fashion beautiful ?

I don’t know that I do - I feel like an eternal student. Maybe there is something to that.

How does the digital enhance creativity for you?

With digital, the there are no limits to your imagination.

What excites you most about the metaverse?

The metaverse needs artists and creators as much as it needs technical innovation. It’s a whole new medium and world that we’ve barely scratched the surface of.

What have you been working on recently  ?

I feel like I’m at an inflection point right now. I need to level up, but I’m not sure which direction I want to go. I’ve been working with AR developer tools like Lens Studio a lot, done some rudimentary game building with UE5, and increasing my video skills. I wish there was a thirteenth month in the year where I could just lock myself in a room and watch tutorials and learn things.
