Vincent is a CGI Artist and talented Art Director who uses bright colours and a signature surrealist style to create wonderful images. His use of the digital to create intricate designs fascinates us. We spoke to him about his inspirations, practice and the exciting exhibition that he his preparing for.
The main inspiration in my work comes from my direct environment, memories and the emotions that surround me! That being said, from an aesthetic point of view, I get a lot of inspiration from fashion photographers like AJ Hamilton or Txema Yeste and 3D designers, Antoni Tudisco, Frederique Duquette, Elena Romenkova to name but a few! Music also inspires me a lot when I create.
I think it's a way of extending reality and creating a new creative space with less boundaries, it helps us to visualise and express better what we want to convey in my opinion.
I would define my style as surrealist, I like to play with contrasts, whether it is by mixing everyday elements with more dreamlike ones, but also with the play of lights and colours that I use. I try to keep a minimalist style overall, to focus on the human characters that come up mainly and keeping this minimal aspect helps to accentuate the emotions and empathy towards the characters. I'm trying to explore the concept of identity, moving away from stereotypes and strict definitions and I want to focus on how people see the world and themselves.
I don't think of any one work in particular, I think what makes me most proud of my work is that I have been able to create different experiences in all sorts of mediums, whether it be physical or digital, NFTs, print, exhibitions and that I have been able to collaborate with artists or agencies that I like. At the end of the day what makes me most proud is when the person who sees my work feels emotions. That's what I think I'm most proud of, being able to arouse feelings by creating something out of nothing from a computer and my head.
I am actually working on several collaborations with NFT platforms, I am also preparing an exhibition later this year on a personal topic and I would like to find time to finish the many personal works I have already started! I would also like to learn new techniques and software this year to develop real-time experiments and improve my collaborative workflow!
